Where does time go?

The last day of July... gosh, the days seem to zip by - each one faster than the one before... Happy Birthday Marissa!!
There have been lots of assorted activities to keep us busy this summer.
Over the weekend we took Emily to Geauga Lake - it's a smallish amusement park near Cleveland. It was a big day in the life of a seven-year-old... Emily rode her first "real" rollercoaster! Actually, she rode a few different ones, but her favorite was The Double Loop, and as the name suggests, it has 2 loops... as we boarded the ride, I wasn't sure how she was going to do - she was scared and nervous and excited. I was just keeping my fingers crossed that there wouldn't be any throwing up. She kept her eyes closed the whole time and came through just fine! So well in fact, that she had to ride it again, and again, and again! She got braver with each ride, until by the end she was quite confident in her abilities! It was fun to just spend the day together and although we got too much sun, we really had a great time. We spent the night in a hotel and made a mini-vacation, complete with a trip to IHOP for Chris - what vacation is complete without Happy Face pancakes?

Emily and I leave on Wednesday morning for Canada. We plan to stop in Niagara Falls and wherever else strikes us -- although after 2.5 hours in the car going to Cleveland, Emily isn't so sure about the 9 hour trip... keep your fingers crossed that we both come home alive! I'm just looking forward to catching up with some old friends and relaxing for a few days. If nothing else, it will be a learning experience (how not to travel with an impatient 7 year old!).
